Les Rencontres by France Muséums – DISCOVER THE FULL PROGRAM OF THE DAY

As an International Museum Consultancy, France Muséums participates in Expo 2020 Dubai in the France Pavilion and organises, during the fortnight of Creation, Les Rencontres by France Muséums, a day dedicated to imagine the future of museums, their role and their place in our society. Discover the full program of the day

These events will allow professional encounters marked by a dedicated symposium bringing together renowned high-level experts and leaders from the French and international museum sector. This day will also be dedicated to an interactive masterclass for participants to exchange best practices and thus provide a platform for innovative ideas to emerge and new perspectives to be explored, which will later contribute to design the visitor experience of tomorrow. A creative workshop will invite young visitors and their families inside the Pavilion to become exhibition curators and understand how to create an exhibition in a playful and stimulating way.

France Muséums shares the conviction that museums are a considerable political asset. At the different levels of intervention, they constitute, beyond a formidable lever for development, an increasingly recognized player in living together in the different societies in which they are rooted. Their fundamental mission of protecting and enhancing heritage in the service of future generations does not reduce them to a cosmetic or superficial role. On the contrary, it qualifies them to assume a role of unprecedented long-term general interest, in areas already well identified (economy, tourism, territorial development), as well as in more unexpected areas (diplomatic, urban planning and social). The renewed encounter of treasures from different cultures, past or present, near or far, with other audiences is indeed a remarkable opportunity for mutual understanding and personal and collective questioning of values: a crucial tool for tolerance. To achieve this, museums are more than ever listening to the expectations of increasingly heterogeneous audiences. Their success will depend in their capacity to create and implement more demanding, innovative museographies adapted to different societal contexts which are increasingly fragmented, especially in a post-sanitary crisis period.

Masterclass

Ensuring consistency of the visitor experience: what is at stake when creating a museum?

In partnership with Chargeurs Museum Solutions

France Muséums, in partnership with Chargeurs Museum Solutions, is organizing a Masterclass for museum professionals. On this occasion, experts and participants will question together the advantage for each discipline to work closely from the very beginning of a project – vertically integrating knowledge, skills and experiences – and push boundaries to capture the museum visitor experience’ as a whole.

We will provide participants with the opportunity to learn from case studies presented by internationally renowned experts, with whom they will be able to exchange views. The purpose of this experience-sharing session is to provide a platform for innovative ideas to emerge and new perspectives to be explored, which will later contribute to shaping the museum of the future.

Workshop –
Make my museum

With the help of museum professionals, young visitors and families have the opportunity to become exhibition curators for the time of the workshop. Everybody will be invited to create their own exhibition, choosing among four themes (sea, light, movement, and emotions) and using reproductions of artworks and a 3D museum model.

By creating their own museums, visitors will have the chance to realize that everyone has a very different vision and reading of themes and works: an exhibition is above all the beauty of expression of an individual subjectivity and sensitivity.

Mediators are present throughout the process to help and answer any questions participants may have, as providing more information on every artwork. Visitors are invited take their models and artworks reproductions home to repeat and share the experience with friends.

Date: 15 January

Time: 10am – 1pm

Place: Expo 2020 Dubai, Mobility District, France Pavilion
