ARCS Chat : The Post-COVID Courier
Talk of virtual couriering services and monitoring systems dominates webinars all over the world. But what are the sustainable solutions for the future? Invited by the MET, the Registrar Marie Knidler presents the solutions that France Muséums has put in place for the organisation of temporary exhibitions at Louvre Abu Dhabi.
The health crisis and successive lockdowns have had a profound impact on the day-to-day operation of museums. To respond to this, to maintain high standards of care for artworks and to manage the installation and de-installation of temporary exhibitions, French and international museums have developed exceptional and innovative remote management solutions.
The Association of Registrars and Collections Specialists, a leading American organisation in this sector, has focused on this major challenge for museums by devoting its latest on-line professional discussion to ‘the Post-Covid19 courier’.
Following the de-installation of the exhibition Furusiyya : the Art of Chivalry between East and West at Louvre Abu Dhabi, which was prepared and organised in exceptional conditions, Marie Knidler, the registrar in charge, was invited to take part in this discussion along with Errin Copple from the Los Angeles County Museum of Arts, Stefanii Ruta Atkins from the Museum of Modern Art, and Sara Buehler from the Brandywine River Museum of Art.
You can view their discussion on the ARCSchat Youtube page or as a Podcast.
